Yellow Classroom Decor Ideas

Yellow is one of the brightest and happiest colors that adds life to any classroom decor.  A yellow classroom theme is all about finding happiness and staying positive.  The ideas here can be used with a bee theme, summer theme and emoji theme. Generally, most teachers do their own DIY makeovers using yellow spray paint or contact paper to transform old classroom furniture into something new and beautiful. I found some examples of these to share with you.

I love to find awesome classroom decor ideas. As an Amazon affiliate, I may earn a commission for purchases using my links. Learn more. The ideas and paid links below are based on Amazon finds that are great for making a yellow classroom. Scroll down to see yellow classroom decor printables.

  • Hang paper lanterns: The colors of these lanterns perfectly match the gray and yellow theme of this classroom. The soft colors are very relaxing to behold.

  • Spuce up your old teacher's desk: Have a bright pop of yellow in your desk area by first covering your desk's front and sides with a gray, black, white, or black and white contact paper. Then border the edges with a yellow bulletin board border.

  • Use yellow tape to border contact paper: This is great for old or plain furniture. This classroom library got an upgrade on its bookshelf with a black and white contact paper and contrasting yellow tape.

  • Upgrade your old file cabinet: First the drawers were taken out and the frame was spray painted yellow. The drawer handles were also spray painted. The drawer fronts were then covered with this white and gray chevron contact paper.

  • Use a yellow on black: This yellow marker pops just as much as the white one does. Get the marker and label set here.

  • A yellow wall: Paint your back wall yellow. The side walls can be a neutral color because you don't want to overdo it. Other yellow furniture and trims in the classroom will stand out more because the back wall will be matching them and this will tie them all together beautifully.

  • Use yellow bulletin board background paper: This will make your bulletin boards match the other yellow items in your classroom. There are different shades of yellow that you can choose. This canary yellow is my favorite.

See my collection of yellow themed printables here. These yellow themed classroom decor printables are from my TpT collection. You get to download them instantly upon purchase and they can be used for years because you'll have lifetime acess to the files.

More ideas will be added soon.

About Me

My photo
As a Caribbean primary school teacher, I share my unique classroom with the world through this blog. Readers step into my class through the pictures, articles and classroom samples of games and lessons used in my class. I have been teaching since 2005 at the std. 4 primary level in Trinidad and Tobago. I am particularly interested in sharing my own personal lesson plans, tests and activities. Teachers need to share ideas and support each other because in doing so, we help to educate our students and develop ourselves as teachers. Technology is ever evolving and we as teachers should get on board with it, collaborate and keep up to date with this new age that we live in. Our students belong to this technological era and we must embrace opportunities to learn from each other in this global community. I also love to express my creativity in the classroom. I am a bit of a craftster . So I'm always cutting, gluing or making something... a game, a chart, a learning center, etc. So, teachers and parents, feel free to stop by and see what's new at Nyla's Crafty Teaching!
