Back to School Books - A Grade Specific Reading List

Many parents and teachers feel so helpless when their child's stomach is in knots because it's the first day of school in a new class. Children worry about fitting in, making friends and liking their new teacher.  There are books out there that speak directly to kids and their fears about school. These are a few. I have arranged the listing according to grade level. Did you know that all of the books below can be read on most devices?

Starting off the school year with some humor is helpful. You'll find very relatable jokes about funny school experiences in this book. It is my own creation so I may be a bit biased to say that it has the best bunch of back to school jokes out there!

As we are on the topic of books for your classroom library, you can see my 10 Classroom Library Tips for helpful and creative ways to have the best library for your class.

Thanks! I've been looking for good back to school books for 4th grade! I switched last year from 2nd grade, and read some favorites. The kids told me they were babyish. Ha! I'm trying it again with new selection this year! ;)

About Me

My photo
As a Caribbean primary school teacher, I share my unique classroom with the world through this blog. Readers step into my class through the pictures, articles and classroom samples of games and lessons used in my class. I have been teaching since 2005 at the std. 4 primary level in Trinidad and Tobago. I am particularly interested in sharing my own personal lesson plans, tests and activities. Teachers need to share ideas and support each other because in doing so, we help to educate our students and develop ourselves as teachers. Technology is ever evolving and we as teachers should get on board with it, collaborate and keep up to date with this new age that we live in. Our students belong to this technological era and we must embrace opportunities to learn from each other in this global community. I also love to express my creativity in the classroom. I am a bit of a craftster . So I'm always cutting, gluing or making something... a game, a chart, a learning center, etc. So, teachers and parents, feel free to stop by and see what's new at Nyla's Crafty Teaching!
